The writing of this book was beautiful and delicate while still covering a deep topic. I honestly wish it had more but I think that was Nella's vision, just to give a quick view into these characters lives and the tense times they were living in.

This classic novel gives insight to how a black woman was living amongst white society during the Harlem Renaissance and just around the stock market crash. The story is about two women who had been childhood friends whom run into each other as established adults. The women exude a reciprocal fascination with each other and each other’s new lives. This leads to suspicions, envy, jealousy, and an abrupt, unexpected ending. The novel delivers a poignant look at the times and the concept of the more subtle attributes of racism of that time. This is a fast read and I will try to remember to update my review after also watching it on Netflix.
