Boom Snot Twitty This Way That Way by Renata Liwska, Doreen Cronin

Boom, Snot, and Twitty are looking for a perfect spot to have a picnic and spend some time together. This way or that way is the way to the perfect spot. Sometimes the perfect spot is not where you plan.

Great book on friends and summery activities - picnicking, beaching, hiking.

Reviewed from a library copy.

There is a bit of cognitive dissonance happening when a character is named Snot and is illustrated in the gentle, endearing style of Renata Liwska. Loved the illustrations. Could not connect with the story.

I really wish Cronin hadn't named a character Snot. I think I might like these stories better if I weren't picturing something gross that comes out of your nose instead of a cute, anthropomorphic snail. The cognitive dissonance of that gross image with the cuteness of the characters makes it really difficult for me to objectively evaluate the actual story.

I enjoyed the illustrations, but apart from that this book has nothing to offer.

OMGGM! What total adorableness!
And the cute little guys even crochet.
Sweet, with little text, and lovely illustrations.

A definite recommend to anyone who loves beautiful children's picture books.

The story didn't really go anywhere.
The cover says, "Three unlikely friends. One extraordinary day." Got the 3 unlikely friends, a bear is probably not doing to be friends with a snail. But an extraordinary day? A bit misleading.

I thought I was with this story showing different approaches to life until the end, and then I just didn't get it. And looking back at it, I'm not a fan of it. Illustrations are great, but I didn't get the overall story or the character names or the point being made.
