I was really looking forward to reading this, having picked it up from a library sale I thought the premise sounded really intriguing and despite being part of a series the books mostly read as a standalone, like the first few Charlaine Harris books, Dan Brown books, or Jame Bond movies; unfortunately instead it was boring and predictable.
I won't go into the description of the storyline because the assumption is by the ninth book, there would be an understanding of the series over-arching storyline, so as a reader who hadn't read any of the others, this is what I have to say:
The characters were so two dimensional and the stupid jealous love triangle type thing was so unnecessary, tropey and again predictable. The dialogue was not at all funny or quirky, it was just boring and cringy and the descriptions went for pages.
Little disappointed, I thought if this was good I'd go back and get the rest of the series but no, not happening.

As the final book in the Greywalker series, this one ups the stakes a bit. With Quentin's father teaming up with a coven of evil mages to destroy the world as we know it there's only three people who can stand in their way, Harper, Quentin, and Carlos.

While the previous books keep things at a lower level of only affecting a group of people, sometimes a city, the higher stakes of this book make you pause to wonder which, if any of our heroes will make it out alive as they travel to Portugal.

This is the last book in the Greywalker series (though the Author's note gives me hope that maybe there will be more in the future!). This was a great book though I felt like there was still so much brought up that could be fledged out in later books.

Upheaval and chaos all across the globe. Wars and economic disaster. Harper Blaine suspects she knows who's behind it, but it's only when she gets a mysterious message from Quinton to meet him in Portugal that she's certain that it's James Purlis and his Ghost Division in action. Accompanied by Carlos, she sneaks out of the country in... a coffin. Having a member of the vampire community on your side has its uses.

Once in Portugal, Harper, Quinton, and Carlos learn that Purlis has recruited bone mages, specifically one Rui, who had once been Carlos's apprentice, to his cause... though it appears more likely that the bone mages are using Purlis, rather than the other way round. Now it's a race against time to stop Purlis's plans and, basically, save the world.

I had to force myself to slow down as I read, purely to savour the book, but the story goes at a whip-crack pace. From the moment Harper climbs out of her coffin in Lisbon, the reader is borne along as if by a tidal wave.

I've raved about Kat Richardson's Greywalker series here before, and my admiration is undiminished. I'm a little sad, though, because Revenant is the last Greywalker book--for now, as Richardson says. Mind you, having been on this ride has been fantastic, and I'm eager to see what Richardson has up her sleeve for her next book.

The summer months are hot and bothersome. It's so much easier to hibernate inside with the air conditioning and a good book if one doesn't absolutely have to venture outside. That's what I've been doing. And this summer I ended my love affair with Harper Blaine and the Grey.
This was not a bad thing. I mean, not in the terms of the books. They were great. But, it's bad that there are no more. I am sad. I will miss it. And I hope that someday, Kat will return us to the Grey.
Revenant goes out with a bang. The stakes are high, the lay of the land is very different, and the enemies are not necessarily of the ghostly/demonic/supernatural variety.
There is camaraderie in unexpected places. A lot of personal growth. And danger. Excitement. Love. Loss. Choices.
And a damaged Harper, once again. Poor woman cannot escape unscathed any more it seems.
We are left hanging in some aspects, healed in others, and hopeful for the future. The changes in Harper and Quinton from book one to book nine are really astounding. But they are done naturally, gradually.
To Kat Richardson, you've left me wanting more. I'm excited to see what you put forth next. And, if you happen to be keeping any kind of tally, mark another in the spot for "Hope for another Greywalker. Someday." You know, when you're ready.

I'm glad I saw this series to the end. I would have always wondered otherwise. I enjoyed it since Kay is so good at the unexpected twists.

Definitely the best in the series. It was a very good wrap to the series, too. I'd read spinoffs of this.

Okay, let's start this with a confession. I had never read anything by this author before, and starting with the last book in this series was probably not the wisest thing to do. And that may be perhaps why I didn't feel as engaged as I might have liked to. I didn't have any emotional baggage to bring to this book, and as the culmination of a series, I suspect it may depend on that.
