loved it!
This book was amazing. The betrayal is everywhere and makes you think how no one can be trusted. Well besides Kovit!

This is honestly a high rating for this book, the only reason it is not lower is because of Adair & Diana >3
Honestly they carry this book and I would've DNFed if it wasn't for Adair
Honestly they carry this book and I would've DNFed if it wasn't for Adair
- Yet again, Nita is an awful protagonist and y'all know I *adore* books with dislikable characters that are written *well*, the problem is this one just isn't lol
- her complete 180 personality shift is really unbelievable and way too extreme
gurl dropped her morals like a hot potato for some dude she met like once - went on a pointless and stupid murder spree that accomplishes absolutely nothing, it makes no sense
- Adair saves the story with his hot takes >>>>>>>>>
- Kovit aint doing much better, his personality also does a 180 and I honestly preferred him in Book 1 cuz here they've just reduced him to a golden retriever on a leash at Nita's beck and call like ughhhh they fucking murdered his character and all the potential with it, he's such a pushover
- Worldbuilding etc was better though than book 1 + original plot
though I have my issues with it but it is original and I will give credit where it is due - my other issue with this book is the romance - budding feelings between Nita and Kovit, a 21 and a 17 year old, yeah no. Also their vibes together just nah, there was no need for that.

Repeats so much of the first book verbatim. You can also see how the author is complaining about certain issues through the characters.

Nita is so good at being cynical but so bad at being evil it’s a miracle she has gotten this far

What can I say about these books? The series got into my life after I discovered the WEBTOON and read in one of the comments that it was based off a book.
I love the characters so much and their growth throughout this second book. This series is what I’ve always wanted off this genre and many others. And the Nita-Kovit dynamic is everything I’ve always wanted to see in a book but hadn’t found until now. Needless to say, I really loved this sequel, that so perfectly complements the first book. I loved to see how the experiences of the Mercado affected Nita, and the way she saw the world. From a psychological standpoint, her character arc -if we can call it that- is simply amazing to read; and how Kovit was her moral compass through the whole thing. I can’t wait for the last book to come!
(Also not gonna lie, but the mention of a Venezuelan restaurant and arepas was also something that made me happy, people usually don’t include my country or its culture in the slightest, so I guess it made my little arepa con reina pepiada eating heart love this book and the author for including it even more lol)
