it warms my heart knowing that there’s a puertorican female superhero <3 she means so much to me, and the story is beautiful.

My husband: Mirá la revista que te compraste...
Yo: Es un libro.

I’m so happy to finally get this comic in my hands. The panel of Marisol with a five-split background of Puerto Rican history will soon become a poster in my classroom.

The book is a great origin story for a Newyorican hero who fights for the environment by harnessing the powers of Huracán and Yucahu thanks to La estrella del camino, a gift from Atabex that has been present at important times during Puerto Rican history. The story is great and the art is superb. Perhaps most importantly, this superhero has Latina hips.

Can’t wait to buy #2.

Loved having a Puerto Rican superhero that is a scientist and secure in herself. Huzzah for La Borinqueña! The pacing was a little weird, with some random unexplained jumps in time and scene switches that didn't track smoothly. The info-dump monologues felt a little rushed and awkward, I wish they'd been drawn out more in a more conversational style. I did love learning more about Puerto Rican culture and am delighted by the comfortable bi-lingual nature of the entire book.
