Gombrowicz is amazingly unsettling, one of those books you want to take a shower after reading (there isn't any actual sex)

(But I would recommend it more than a 4-star read, so I gave it 5)

Pornografia is a very good book and its title is misleading. There's very little overt sexuality in the novel and it's mostly imagined or imposed upon by the narrator.
Overall, Gombrowicz creates a successful experiment in what I'd call the over-intellectualized narrator.
Obvious narrative subjectivity and a great deal of humour make it a great read.
Would recommend to anyone who wants to read or has already read Lolita.
It's a more sinister plot but without any described seductions, at least not the ones you are thinking about.
Lovely ending.

3.5 stars...I think? I have to let this one settle a bit more.

Mój własny potok myśli stłumił strumień świadomości Gombrowicza. Wymęczona lektura pełna rozkojarzenia i zagubienia. Być może to kwestia mnie i nieodpowiedniego momentu, w którym ją czytałam.

Across the beloved Vistula,
Bodies rot in the eternal cold.
Is it wrong to wish to be young?
When evil is so old?

More of Gombrowicz's magic: in German occupied Poland in 1943, a murder is planned by two older men, to be carried out by a teenage boy and girl, all for the erotic gratification of the elders. Yes, this is a bizarre fantasy - but told with Gombrowicz's characteristically dramatic flair.
