Amari and the Night Brothers is a very good book, that can both be enjoyed by the young and the "less young" and honestly it is great to know that we have a generation of black kids who'll grow up around entertainment and art that represents them. Whether you're used to middle grade or not give this series a shot, I really hope it will be as popular as it deserves because this book definitely surpasses others in the same vein that get way more attention.

This was so good - I wish I had this book to read when I was in middle school! Amari is so intelligent and resilient - an amazing main character. I chose this book for my Middle Grade kids bookclub at my library, I'm sure my kids will love it too :)

Awesome literal #Blackgirlmagic middle-grade debut by B. B. Alston with a fierce female lead and a great adventure that hints at a sequel! This is my top read of the year thus far.

Pure magic. Best thing I've read after Harry Potter. Yes I said it. Fight me!
