This was a dark story. I kind of liked it, to be honest .It's pretty bloody. No nice people in it.

“I couldn’t put the book down!”

The story is about a elderly retired hitman who is living a peaceful existence by himself when, one night, someone breaks in his house and tries to kill him.

After killing the intruder & the get away driver, He leaves home and embarks on a mission to find out who order the hit only to uncover a somewhat larger conspiracy involving a list of a bunch of 20 year old murder victims.

As I started to read this book, I noticed the plot, the mcguffin and even the the first act was extremely similar to another comic book about an aging retired killer.

Back in 2010, Bruce Willis starred in an action movie called ‘Red’ about aging retired CIA agent. It was loosely based on a comic book of the same name about an old retired CIA Black ops agent who is living a peaceful existence by himself when a group of men breaks in his house and tries to kill him.

After killing the intruders & the get away driver, He leaves home and embarks on a mission to find out who order the hit only to uncover a somewhat larger conspiracy involving a list of names in the CIA possession.
I’m not sure if this book is paying homage to ‘Red’ or what but that’s where I think the similarities end.

The second act of ‘The Last Contract’ had me confused at first with all the names (dead & alive) that I had to keep track of and almost closed the book. Once my stupid lil brain understood the mission I couldn’t put the book down! I really hope some studio pickup the movie rights to this book.

I have one question about the book? What was the main characters age? The book suggested he was in his 80s, but he move like he was in his 20s.
