Village life! I don't know my fellow villagers as well as the characters in this book know each other, probably because we only moved six months ago. Each part focuses on a particular character from the village, and runs through their life in the village. It is a good example of other people thinking they know what goes on behind closed doors, but in actual fact they don't always have a clue. The stories all connect up but it does feel like a lot of ground is covered to tell each persons story.

3.5 stars. I expected it to be more of a romance novel - I am so glad it wasn't. Not normally something I would choose but I liked it.

A classical Meave Binchy book with sensitive and caring characters. It is not a page turner but a sweet book.

This is a great Binchy book - lots of secrets and confusion, and excellent ensemble cast who are profiled over the course of about 20 years through a series of short stories from each perspective.

The structure here was both a blessing and a curse. It was fun to see the overlapping of stories, as each chapter covered a similar time period, so you saw the same events from multiple perspectives. However, on occasion this meant that certain plot points and timelines were messy and didn't always match up.

Overall, this was yet another beautiful and soothing tale that was exactly what I needed!
