I was really excited to read this book cause the cover looked creepy. The writing was good and the story kept my interest and it was a short book (which I loved) but I was hoping it was going to be more disturbing. So, it lacked the shock value for me.

Listening to this story amplified the experience. The voice is perfect! Also, this short is so much deeper than a lorno Necro tale. It's an exploration of grief and one man's story of loneliness and moving forward in life. I very highly recommend this one

Stirring the sheets is an authentic and tragic little story that comments on loss, grief and closure. Chad uses an incredibly realistic writing style, and reading this feels like witnessing a genuine event- making it all the more devastating. He clearly set out to tug on our heart-strings and he definitely succeeded. The main character is sensitive, vulnerable and GOD I just wanna give him a hug.

Emmett works at a funeral home. At first it was difficult for him to work on these bodies, but over the forty years he’s worked there, he’s come to recognise the beauty in his job. You may think after seeing death in the volume Emmet has, he would be equipped to handle loss, however after his wife Kate is suddenly killed in a car accident he is stranded.
Now, a year later, Emmet still thinks about Kate every waking hour, is terrorised by the neighbourhood kids, and refuses to even try another woman’s cooking. However, his life is once again flipped on its head, when he comes across a body, the spitting image of his wife when he first met her. Despite his best efforts, a plan begins to hatch in Emmet’s grief-stricken mind… could he have Kate back? If only for a night.

There’s no disputing that this novella is unique. Hell, my EMOTIONS were stirred in the duration of 99 pages, but I’m struggling to remember the details now, ask me in a month? I won’t have the foggiest. Bluntly, it’s kinda forgettable. For today though? Depressing, devastating… pretty good.

It's been two days and I'm still not sure what to even say about this one except that it was a wonderful story.

I felt very emotional reading this book. It was an extremely good read. Creepy but with a focus on the loneliness emmet feels.

This plot intrigued me, and I was even more drawn to it after hearing positive reviews refer to it as creepy, unsettling, and even disturbing; but after reading it I was underwhelmed.

This was a wonderfully written short story about grief and loneliness. So much character development was nicely worked in and I found the story to be simultaneously heartwarming and heartbreaking.. but there was no shock or wow factor in it for me (not that there really needed to be, it was still enjoyable).

My expectations were most likely in the wrong place, or perhaps the content simply doesn’t weird me out as I’m more than comfortable with reading about corpses!

Either way, I am glad I read it. I liked the writing so I plan to read more by this author!

Also I want to mention that I couldn’t find who created the cover art for this book but I love it.
