I guess it's my fault for not checking the reviews before starting this book. In my defense, I was out running errons and needed something to read/listen to. I usually have Alexa read my books while I get stuff done. I had this on my TBS and it sounded good and most of the story was up until around 60% in. That's when things became a little too much for my taste. So I decided to DNF this book. I don't read much dubcon so maybe I'm just out of my depth here but if someone says no repeatedly even if they are semi-into (their body responds) it the answer is still no. Sex isn't a tool to force someone to do what you want, especially when the "thing" goes against their core beliefs, like say, becoming a slave. I get the male MC's thought process. They can't marry, if he takes her as his mate he will be banished from his people. Their only option is if she becomes his "slave" in name. But I don't know maybe he could have explained the situation instead of controlling her with dubious consent sex and leaving her naked and locked up until she complied. He not only forced a sexual encounter but also made her feel like becoming his slave was her only option. He told her she was alone in the universe with no one else to advocate for her and no way to take provide for herself. So become his slave or become the slave of someone else... NOPE! That is not love. Actually, the slave for someone else wasn't an option for her because he wouldn't accept any other option besides her becoming his.

This book is about Anna and Jakkar.  Anna is a human that is stuck on an alien ship, that one crashes to the ground and they are forced to survive on another alien planet with the other "slaves" or prisoners.  Jakkar is a hunter and is helping them survive on this strange planet.   

Jakkar has had bad mission after bad mission and this one is no different.  He can't even get his ward to her planet to have a baby.   Now he is stuck with these other people who he has to take care of and oh my goodness isn't that human perfectly shaped.   

Anna can't believe she is falling for an alien but when he calls her "slave" he can't stand it and won't let him be with her until things change.    This is them figuring it out.

sci-fi romance at its best…

Stolen from earth to be a slave may not be a new storyline but Anna’s experience is intriguing and endearing. Jakkar is a sweet sexy warrior yet he is also an unknown entity through much of the tale. I loved this story and can’t wait to continue the series.

So here is yet another one where the girl is both terrified and turned on. And the male has lots of “I’m not going to give her a choice about having sex with me” thoughts. I do not get turned on by a male lead who doesn’t respect consent!!

And she’s groped and leered at and abused a little and in the midst of that she can’t help but be totally distracted by lust for her alien. It’s just ridiculous.
