A huge disappointment. The ending made me groan out loud. Buffy fans stay away!

Alternate Universe: the WillowVerse.
Ok, so this being my first BuffyVerse world to dive into, I may have not chosen the best one. Apparently, in this world, Buffy is no longer the Slayer - Willow is. Willow and Giles cast a spell, thinking they would be helping Buffy, but they end up erasing her memories. She has no idea she used to be the Slayer. She has no fighting skills. She's almost a liability. I honestly wouldn't have known this much, if I hadn't read the blurb.
It kind of just jumps right into the storyline, and we're expected to know all this without being told. They don't show us what happened.. they just tell us, and we're supposed to be OK with it. I honestly don't know if I'll finish this series.

The beginning and middle issues of this volume were just boring. However, the last one was just straight up bad.

I thought this would be a fun AU Buffy comic but it just didn’t hold up. The plot was fine but I just don’t think that Willow holds up to being the Slayer like Buffy did. She doesn’t have the swagger, she just seems sad and overwhelmed the whole time with no support until another Slayer shows up. This is one I would skip honestly.

I struggled with this initially, I love Buffy so much as a character it was hard to see her as a weak/ incompetent version of herself. As I read on it made me realise however if this is potentially what Willow and Xander would have felt before Willow stepped into her own power that is so I stuck with it.

I will say the change of drawing style form comic to comic however completely threw me. I didn’t know I was reading one volume or multiple stories, as they all seemed to be a different artists take on the same arc, it wasn’t chronological and the random appearances of characters such as Spike and Faith, although welcomed, felt completely unnessecary and not cohesive to the actual storyline.

I wanted to like this so much and I love Buffy’s story but as time goes on and from each new volume of vampire slaying world building I read, I am met with the confirmation that perhaps, it should have been left where it was.
