Twisted Hate by Ana Huang was such a rollercoaster. I absolutely loved Jules and Josh as characters their growth throughout the story felt authentic and well-paced. Both had detailed, unique backstories that made them relatable and complex. Their enemies-to-lovers dynamic was fantastic! I loved their banter and the way they kept challenging each other even after they got together. Their chemistry was so intense, and their fights low-key had a cute undertone that kept things lively.

I was almost set to give this book five stars, but the last 30% changed things for me. The way Josh handled the major conflict with Jules just left a sour taste. I understand he's flawed, but his actions crossed a line for me, especially since this isn’t marketed as a dark romance. It made it hard to root for him in the same way.

That being said, Ana Huang’s writing is amazing, and the emotional quotes like Josh's line about “the possibility of you is better than the reality of anyone else” had me swooning. Overall, a captivating read with strong characters, but that final conflict held me back from a perfect rating.

(Finished May 13th, 2025)(Audiobook)
This has to be my favorite in the series thus far! The true enemies to lovers was done so well, with reasons that were completely valid, and wrapped up neatly for a satisfying ending.
Miss Ana Huang was NOT playing when she named this title. It is exactly what you'd expect and more. The hate is real, both emotionally and physically 👀👀, both not bad at all 😏
I really related to the characters and really felt for them in their best and worst times
BUT WHEN JOSH F****ED JULES AND SAID HE ACTUALLY DIDNT FORGIVE HER???? I WOULDVE CHECKED OUT, LITERALLY WAS UGLY SOBBING HEARING THIS😭😭😭😭

Everything felt in character though lmao
I will say, even though i loved it there could've been some editing done to make the story not feel so long. And there were times where the characters said the same thing more than once at different points in the story that didn't feel intentional. Also,
the amount of deaths that occurred, though intentional and moved the plot along, (espeically for jules to move on)did feel a bit much.
Jules is a better woman than I, idk if I could've forgiven Josh tbh 😭

But they're my wife and husband frfr
I'm so glad they're happy and were able to figure everything out. I'm NOT ready for the next book and for the series to conclude. I know that one will be THICC

Twisted Hate by Ana Huang fits well into the Twisted series, delivering a solid enemies-to-lovers story between Josh and Jules. Their dynamic feels believable, with a nice slow build of emotions that adds depth to their relationship. However, while the chemistry is strong, I do think the book could have handled consent—especially around the BDSM elements—with more care and clarity.

Very good with one massive problem that forced me to bump it down to 3 stars.
the book is better if you skip the second half of chapter 46. Deeply disturbing and ruins Josh as a character. Seriously, just get to the "I forgive you" line and skip to the end of the chapter knowing that he was lying and said and did a bunch of deeply hurtful things instead of reading what he actually did to Jules, which is unforgivable.

3.5

After reading Twisted Hate by Ana Huang, I can say I didn’t enjoy it as much as the first two installments of the series. I didn’t dislike it, but it didn’t quite meet my expectations—both compared to the previous books and the ideas I had going into it.

Starting with the romance: I get the appeal of Jules and Josh as a couple. It’s “enemies to lovers”, which is a trope I usually enjoy. However, something felt off. I can’t quite pinpoint what went wrong, but at times, I struggled to fully believe the “lovers” aspect of their relationship. (And, to a lesser extent, the “enemies” aspect too.) There were moments when their relationship felt just physical. Even nearing the end. That said, their date at the library/restaurant, the ski trip, and their trip to Ohio were nice touches that helped establish emotional chemistry. Overall, their romance was fine—I can get behind them as a couple. You just won't see me in the trenches to defend them.

Since this book features what’s best described as a “truce with benefits” arrangement, it includes a lot of steamy scenes. At times, I thought the sheer quantity was a bit much—especially when listening to the audiobook while painting walls and hoping my headphones were soundproof enough to avoid awkward questions from my family. That said, I understand that their physical relationship is crucial to their overall story and development as a couple. It makes sense. Compared to Twisted Games, at least this book had more variety in its spice, which I appreciated. (Though the dominance dynamic remains unchanged—Jules is following her besties on the submissive train.)

Now, onto the third act. The conflict in the last third of the book felt entirely avoidable. At first, I thought it might actually subvert my expectations—I was bracing myself for a huge cliché, only for the book to seem like it was steering in a different direction. But then, at the very last moment, it took the exact turn I initially dreaded. I’m being intentionally vague, but if you’ve read it, you’ll know what I mean. It gave me the same frustration I felt during Alex’s betrayal in Twisted Love after he kidnapped Ava and Bridget. Not exactly the same situation, but it inspired a similar reaction. I thought it was unnecessary and honestly just mean of Josh.

Overall, I’m rating this a 3.5. While this wasn’t my favorite in the series, I’m still excited to see what direction Stella’s book takes, especially since she’s the one we knew the least about until this installment.
