Sad story, a sequel to the prequel and a story about the children of The Infernal Devices characters... It will probably make it easier to read the new trilogy that is bound to come out at the end of this year... If I have the strength and wish to keep reading stories from the Shadowhunter world. 🤔😶

That last scene with Will and Jem, I cried! They are everything and they are the BEST thing to happen in TID!

If it says shadows on the title, it's gonna break your heart. That's just how it works with this short stories.

I loved it, it was sweet and then dark, and then heartbreaking. I cannot begin to express how I felt while reading this. It's certainly setting a great idea of what The Last Hours will be like and I'm loving it.

And Jem —my sweet angel, Jem —I love reading about him and the way he felt about this children, about the people in his life whom he both still have but's left behind. I just, love it.

Quite the read, but at times very confusing to keep track of the characters.

“... I thought I would walk with you a little way, my parabatai.”
How far? asked Jem.
Will smiled. “Need you ask? I will go with you as far as I possibly may.”

Matthew Fairchild is a naive, pompous, and vain charmer who gets in over his head when he trusts someone he shouldn’t. I can’t say I like his character but he does provide a good foil to James Herondale. This story is tragic. Children are allowed stupid and selfish decisions driven by insecurity, but that doesn’t mean it was enjoyable to read about.
