Full disclosure: I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review and will be posting about it on my blog for a blog tour in September.
The concepts and themes explored in this book could've been organized a little better, but overall I LOVED the focus on Zen teachings. I typically have a tough time wrapping my head around Zen teachings, especially in regards to unapologetic love and compassion for all, but this book does a great job breaking down these concepts and putting them into digestible terms that are easy to understand. I found myself keeping notes of all of the interesting points being made and new ways of considering relationships in my life. I also adored that this book remained neutral on the type of relationships being explored. Readers can interpret the findings for platonic, romantic, or even self relationships without skipping a beat in their understanding of the material.
Overall, this is a great supplementary material for existing concepts and understanding of maintaining relationships and Zen teachings regarding love in said relationships. I can't speak for if this would be a good resource for folks in toxic or abusive relationships, but it certainly gave me new ways to consider my existing relationships and what I seek within them.
