Colin and Emma are off on another adventure, one that is happening right before their wedding. A friend of Oliver (the infamous art thief from previous books) and Emma's grandfather (famous antiques dealer) is killed. Right after he brings up the suspicious theft of some mosaics. Also involved, a legend of the FBI, one who slipped up only once in his career, but it was with a confidential informant. A CI who is also in Heron's Cover. One who might have some information about what happened with the mosaics.
The mystery was easy enough to solve but it was rather shallow. Not a lot of information. There were so many people that were revisited and introduced (including Father Bracken's sister, Mary). Not my favorite Carla Neggers but not horrible either. Regular Sharpe & Donovan readers will enjoy.

I normally love Carla Neggers' writing but I think jumping in here at book six in the series was too confusing to truly enjoy the whole story. There were a LOT of characters to keep tabs on and I wasn't sure of their previous interactions, so I would caution readers to start at the beginning and read in sequence. Other than that, the plot was fairly complex and I loved the multiple settings: Boston, Maine, and Ireland. We did also get to see the strong, lovely connection between Emma and Colin of course, with a nice romantic end to the book that will make readers smile. Full review to come.

I adore Colin and Emma. I enjoyed that they had more time on page together in this book than the last. But, I've also come to realize that a lot of what I like about the series is when Colin and Emma are apart but thinking about each other. The way they view each other and care for each other is amazing. I also love the other characters in the book. The crime part of the story was well done and concluded in this book. I can't wait until the next book in the series comes out.

This book is the 6th book in the Sharpe and Donovan series, so it took me a moment to figure out the characters and their places. I don't think it's necessary to read the previous ones, but I think it would have helped.

Retired FBI special agent Gordie Wheelock is in over his head, but doesn't know it yet. When he visits Agent Emma Sharpe in her office, she senses something is off with him, but he denies it. Then Emma and her soon to be husband and also undercover agent Colin Donovan find a body and the story starts to unravel.

It took a bit to get going in this book, the majority of the excitement is in the last quarter of the book, so keep going!

Thank you to MIRA and Netgalley for the chance to read and review this book before publication.

Meh. The plot could have been great, but there was so much repetition of everyone's back story that I got irritated. More of that could have been spent developing the plot. Then in the end just quick bit on them getting married. That could have been at least a developed chapter - not the short afterthought it was. Hope the next one gets back on track. I'll still give it a try b/c it's got the potential if the author spends the time on it.
