I wished it had more of a resolution but it got me out of a reading funk so mission accomplished. I just wish it had less of the sex though, it didn't need it.

Halfway through the book the story still hasn't progressed very much at all. Seems as though the author wanders continuously and it never really ties together until the absolute end of the book making for a boring read. Hated it. Not even going to comment on content.

I just don't know how I missed this book. Anyways , I had a difficult time putting this book away. Such a wonderfully scripted book!

The heroine Jade Sperry is brutally raped by three men on a rainy night and left alone in bushes. Those three men are Jade's school mates and it leaves her heart broken. And to add to the pain, she gets pregnant. What comes as a surprise is , inspite of going for an abortion, she delivers the baby. Now after 14 years, she goes back to the same town and those haunting memories of rape taunt her. She is determined to take revenge for the brutality .

On the other side , Dillion and his loving family are happy enough. But sadly, his wife and child die in an accident and he is left alone.

Brown brings completely unrelated leads together and the revenge is brilliant . This book is undoubtedly one of my best reads.

Miriiiis baca ini :(
Sama nasib Jade yang lagi seneng2nya beasiswanya diterima. Ternyata dia malah diperkosa sama 3 remaja pria yang ga bertanggung jawab! >:(

Memang nggak graphic banget sih, tapi tetep bikin nggak nyaman. Emosi banget pokoknya di bab2 awal. Pengin matahin tangan 3 begundal itu hhhh.

Bagian prolog udah dibikin penasaran, kenapa dan kenapa. Beberapa bab awal flashback kehidupan Jade.

Tulisannya as always yak, bikin candu. Pokoknya khas banget lah. Kereeen!

Satu lagi, antagonis di sini nyebelin. Masih kesel sama Donna Dee, Myrajane Griffith, sama Ivan Patchett. Duh, kalian tuh dulu nggak mau ngulurin tangan ke Jade pas lagi butuh bantuan, sekarang malah pengin hal yang diperjuangkan sama Jade sendirian. Jezzzz!

I received a free copy from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review, all opinions are my own.

Jade endured what no women should ever endure, clawing her way back to the road and vowing to make the three boys pay for what they did to her. Her justice was pulled from her and everyone turned against her, even her own mother. The wealthy family who ran the town made the story go away.

She moves away to get her degree and begin her plan to exact revenge. While fate does some of the work for her, she also meets Dillon who she needs to help with her plan. Little did she know he may also help her let go of the past. This book was published back in 1991 and while some stereotypes of the southern town were present the story felt very current. Very moving and powerful story of survival, love and moving on.
