short but not sweet

A short read. I was expecting more from the story but I’m glad it didn’t end in a cliff hanger. If you have a few hours to spare, it’s an ok read.

Mega. Hat mir sehr gut gefallen. Nicht überzogen, amüsant und schwarzhumorig, ebenso spannend und grotesk. Eine gute Mischung für ein gutes Buch aus diesem Genre. Gerne wieder Jeff Strand.

I came across this title randomly; the premise seemed interesting—unfortunately, it was a letdown.

There was no real horror involved beyond the physical aspects, and those parts were too few and far between to create any real sort of tension. I kept waiting on some mega twist at the end, even after the initial twist was revealed. Sadly this just left me with a fairly empty "That's it!?"

As I do say with these things, a shame, really.

I hand no clue where this story was going the entire time I read it.  It had some nice twists and turns and the end was decent.  Overall it kept me entertained.

When Jason gets frightened by a facially deformed woman, he feels bad and wants to apologize. No good deed goes unpunished in this horrible and funny tale of jealously and revenge. Not for the squeamish.
This story is the definition of entertainment. Sure, it was gory and more than a little messed up but it was a blast nonetheless.

If I had to pick one thing that I liked most about Jeff Strand's writing (and it would be very tough, I assure you), it would be how real his characters are. He has this wonderful knack of making them believable. They aren't superheroes. They have self-doubt, insecurity, fear, and all the other things most people experience in life, and Strand eloquently injects the real-life emotions into the people he creates. That skill is on full display in Blister, his latest novel.

The magic of Blister is that it goes exactly where you think it will go, until it doesn't. Granted, there are a few turns in the book that you may or may not see coming, but even if you aren't surprised by where Strand takes you, the journey still kicks much ass.

3.5 stars...this is a wild, weird book. I enjoyed it...although it's not a new favorite. Not sure if I would reread it...maybe? So I'm rounding up. This one is a mix of horror, thriller, romance, and comedy.

Unexpected Love Story

Forget Bonney and Clyde...this little "horror" novel introduces an even better duo. Although this was not what I expected, it was a fun enough read.
