started to get nervous that this was going to be a really sad disastrous ending for Layla but turned out amazingly. great series. :)

A wonderful end to a beautiful trilogy. Don't let the covers fool you. This series is full of action, as well as a love triangle that forces you to become attached to everyone involved. I am sad it is over :(. I think I will mourn the loss of the characters for awhile lol.

I want to start off by saying that I'm so happy that I decided to reread this series.  I feel like it's what I needed: something comforting and familiar to read and I feel like it renewed my love for Jennifer L. Armentrout as an author.  I do have to say that while this series may not be my favorite from Jennifer L. Armentrout, it's probably one of my most read series.  I just thinks it's a really fun read and while I know it's not perfect and it reads a bit dated now, I still had a lot of fun reading the series.  This book concludes The Dark Elements series and I'll admit I'm always surprised when I got back to read this last book and see that it's so much shorter than the previous books.  I don't know if it's just me, but it always throws me off when the last book in the series is the shortest because I always think about if the author is going to be able to come to a completely satisfying conclusion.  I have to admit that as far as how Layla defeats the Lilin in this book, I'm not sure if it's completely satisfying.  Layla and the Lilin are connects so if the Lilin dies, Layla dies and they never truly find a work around that so I kind of feel like the author wasn't sure how to fix it and the ending feels a bit of a cop out.  Layla does die in order to defeat the Lilin but somehow she wakes up alive because the big boss downstairs made a deal with Lilith, Layla's, mother for Layla's life so Layla gets to live.  Don't get me wrong, I'm happy that Layla lived, I'm just not sure I'm happy with the way the author went about it.  As far as other aspects of the book, I'm so happy that Layla and Roth get their happy ending but I wish things ended on better terms between Layla and Zayne, but I suppose it's understandable that Zaybe would want his space, all things considered.  All in all, I'm very happy I decided to reread this series and now I'll be on my way to read the spin off.

This book was a solid ending to the series. Book one is still definitely my favorite but this book tied everything up nicely.
