6/7 stars. My mind is blown that this turned out to be a really good, thought-provoking novel. I got it as part of a Storybundle collection and really didn't know what to expect, but suspected that I wouldn't really like it.
I love that it twists away from seeming to be about whether or not a society like the Bublinoplex would genuinely be a good thing towards being about the class divisions that support its existence. It's message regarding the wealthy abandoning the present to create a future where their kids are safe at the cost of the masses would be timely throughout much of history, but it is particularly poignant now as we watch climate-related disasters become more and more common and those with the power and means to do something about it do nothing at best and, at worst, hasten the destruction along.
. The general flow of the book and the world-building are both excellent and I found it to be a pleasurable read. At first I didn't really like the way that it jumped between Margo's ordeal as Leech Girl and the events that lead up to it but, fortunately, that eventually stops when the two timelines intersect.
