You Can't Go Wrong with Brux

Even though the relationship in this book moved quickly it worked because the characters have known each other for so longer prior to pursuing anything romantically. It was a sweet story with mild sex scenes that worked well for the characters. Overall I liked it, not as much as her book Suddenly Beautiful, but still it was an enjoyable story.

Interested in a light-hearted romance with characters you quickly care about who behave like mature people not riddled with angst or emotional tantrums and respond to situations rationally? This, me dears, is that book.

Well written and plotted, Properly Groomed was a pleasure to read. I liked both Joya and Linc whose chemistry made the book sizzle. Plus, I am always a fan of romances where the woman or man’s long-lived crush comes to fruition.

Three and a half stars.

Joya Bennett wakes up after her brother’s wedding, lying next to Lincoln Fisher, the best man and her brother's best friend. She has had a crush on him for ages but now she's blown all that. As she sneaks away doing the walk of shame she plans to avoid Linc for as long as humanly possible - only to discover that the two of them will be sharing her brother's house for two weeks: she is babysitting her sister-in-law's iguana, Dash, and he is temporarily homeless while looking for a new house.

Despite the embarrassing circumstances, Joya and Linc find themselves settling into a strange sort of domesticity - but can it last past the two weeks? Is Linc able to commit to a relationship? Will Joya's potential new job make their relationship impossible? What will Joya's brother think about this hook-up? Can a restaurateur ever be in a relationship with a woman who's culinary expertise ends at PB&J sandwiches?

This was fun. Low on angst and easy to read.

I received a free copy of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

One of the things I love about series like these is you don't have to read the previous books. Each one can be read as a stand alone.

I honestly love stories where you crush on your sibling's friend. It adds a forbidden element because you're pretty sure your sibling isn't going to react well to the fact that you like their friend.  My one pet peeve is that the friend doesn't notice you until you've grown up, while you've been pining over them for years.

Linc and Joya are freaking awesome when they're forced to stay in the same place while Joya's brother and wife are on their honeymoon. I love that Linc teases her, and she teases back some of the time. Mostly she's just kind of freaked out that Linc is showing an interest in her.  Both of them have careers that could potentially decrease the time they can see each other.

The sex scenes are HOT! I love the chemistry between the two and the emotion even when they kind of try to deny that there are feelings involved.

Overall, I enjoyed this story. The opening chapter is awesome and makes you want to turn the page to find out how they are going to get over the awkward. It's a quick read and can easily be read in a few hours.

The cute cover was the reason I requested this book on Netgalley, plus the brother's-best-friend trope I love. Joya gets drunk at her brother's wedding and wakes up next to her life-long crush Linc. Although nothing has happend her heart skips a beat when she realizes they are both housesitting her brother's house.

Although the writing style is pleasant I was a bit disappointed about the lack of sizzle and chemistry. There is hardly any build up to their relationship and there is nothing significant in the plotline either.

Forbidden love. Best friend and his best friend's little sister. What's not to love? Waking up on the wrong side of your brother's best friend's bed could prove to be the best thing to ever happen or the worst. The story starts off with a bang, and leaves you wondering what is become of the situation Joya found herself in.

Properly Groomed was such a cute story! I loved the witty banter between Joya and Linc. Their chemistry was smoking hot and steamy! It's well-written and always kept me hanging onto every word they said.

This is my first book by Boone Brux and it won't be the last! Her writing captivates you. Before you know, you've read the whole book in one sitting!
