I usually read Sandra Brown's romance thrillers, but I decided to dive myself in one of her old romance trilogy.
It was okay. I'm not much of a romance kind of girl, but I needed a quick read to get over a slump and I know Sandra's writing is good.

I read this book because a few years ago I was sent Texas! Sage (the third book to this companion trilogy) by the author along with a book I'd won in a giveaway. While not my favorite, I'd enjoyed it enough to want to read the first two books in the series.

I have to admit, so far it looks like this is one of those series that gets better as they go because this wasn't very good. Lucky was a pig disguised as the supposedly swoon-worthy knight, and Devon was painted to be this intriguing woman but, to me, had the personality of dry-wall.

There are so many better romances out there, but I would maybe recommend checking out Sage's installment if you have the chance.

I'm not big on the whole "trashy romance novel", but my sister convinced me that I needed to at least read one, so naturally we picked one that is about a cowboy! I can't say it has converted me to love the genre, but overall it was a decent book with a solid storyline, if you can mull over all the sex stuff. I have to say that I hated the ending; would have never expected such a tragic twist. Didn't like it enough to continue reading the saga, so I guess I'll never know what happens to Lucky, Chase, and Sage!

A little cheesy... but still, there's a cowboy, or two ;)

Lucky has a great sense of humor and Devon was an ok Mc. I just didn’t think the whole husband plot device was necessary. There were already so many other things going on in the story.

Love how the couple actually becomes a unit in the end. Found a new series I can read.

2.75⭐️ This is an older romance story (early 1990’s), so there are parts and terms that are no longer relevant, but the story itself was good.

3.5* A little over the top in some areas, but lots of fun. Great characters. I'm looking forward to Texas! Chase.

Lucky steps in to save a beautiful woman, Devon, from some unwanted male attention and gets much more than he bargained for. He needs her to be his alibi but she has disappeared and is trying very hard to stay hidden. When he does find her, she does not want to help him but Lucky is very persistent and will not give up. Devon has her own problems to deal with and doesn't want to add more to her plate by helping Lucky. However, the passion between the two keep the coming back for more.
