mostly, this was just bizarre. i'm not even sure that incestuous describes the sisters. it's written like a kids book (pictures with very, very few words) but is so very much not for kids that it's jarring.

The facial expressions in these illustrations captured my attention immediately. They are sharp and crisp and honest.

Everyone reads a different book -- but this is most certainly true when you pick up The Three Incestuous Sisters. You'll find meaning wherever it finds you -- in the illustrations, characters, words, your memories.

It's a story of sibling rivalry, grieving and love. And, as I have already alluded to, the illustrations are delicate and dedicated.

Read this very short graphic novel while sitting in the library the other day. Was immediately intrigued, as I really like Niffenegger's two novels. But this graphic novel is barely a story at all and more a vessel for a number of paintings the author had drawn. She described it almost as a fairy tale, which... maybe? I think I require a *bit* more story :)

Very few words, mostly a work of art. Reading this and Niffenegger's one other illustrated book, The Adventuress, really helped me to enjoy Her Fearful Symmetry better, because I wasn't so surprised by the macabre, dark denoument as I'm sure others were if they had only ready Time Traveler's Wife.

I obviously picked it off the shelf because of the title. It was sadly just weird and not all that incestuous. Not a good weird- just weird for the sake of being weird.

This literally took me 10 minutes to read. The entire story is mostly told by pictures with so little text. I think it would have been better if there were more words. The artwork and story was a bit disturbing. Glad I was able to read this book via the library.
