If you consider this an updated take on a Harlequin romance, it's great. If you're disgusted by romantic heroes sweeping in to make sure the princess doesn't recklessly give away her royal virginity, run away quickly.

Eh, I didn't enjoy this one quite as much as the first one. There wasn't as much plot. The book synopsis really made it sound like David would have more of a problem with Cathy being a princess, but he basically had no problem with it after one minor discussion. I appreciate, like in the last book, that Alex and David are nice guys who don't play emotional games with the girls, but it also doesn't lend itself to a gripping book without any other plot devices to prop it up. There was no tension as to whether Cathy or David would get together; they're pretty much together from the beginning. I just expected a little more oomph.

Still fun, but I felt this one was more of a caricature of the first one.

It was cute and very easy to read. I never got bored or frustrated.
I wasn't to invested on the characters and the story line was pretty weak.

It is an enjoyable read for a lazy Sunday in :)

The problem with books written in the first person - especially series written in the first person - is that the voice has to change if the main character also changes. And that wasn't the case with this book. The voice was the same as the first book. And this was distracting me through the entire book. Other than that, it was a cute rest. Very sweat.mtxz5

Readers were first introduced to Alex’s younger sister, Princess Catherine, in Suddenly Royal, and now she has been granted a book of her own. To feed readers who want to know more about Alex and Samantha’s relationship there is the inclusion of their royal wedding, but this book mainly focuses upon Cathy looking at her brother and sister-to-be with the realization that she wants that sort of love. All her life she has divided her personality into the Princess Catherine the public sees and the Cathy she can be with those closest to her; royalty and the prestige a date with her can bring to young men makes Cathy wonder if she will ever find a man who wants her for her. She finds him, however, in the form of Samantha’s friend from graduate school, David.

In my opinion, this book did not match the charm of its predecessor. This story might have the world "reckless" in the title and Cathy is told by those around her to loosen up, yet she never actually does anything of much interest or that could be considered reckless. Since Cathy was born a princess there is no discovery on how to manage her job, such as what Samantha went through as she fell in love with the Crown Prince of Lilaria. Instead, Cathy must navigate the beginnings of her own relationship within the public eye and issues with a new personal assistant. While the lack of dramatics in the relationship was refreshing in Suddenly Royal, the absence of any sort of stakes seemed a bit suspicious in this story -- by this I mean I found it hard to believe David would take to the paparazzi with such little resistance and worry for his family. Cathy and David’s romance was also in no way as romantic as the one between Alex and Sam. I wish the author would have continued this series in the voice of Samantha since I would have liked to follow her life further instead of the glimpse into Cathy's.

If you liked Suddenly Royal and are desperate to stay in the world of Lilaria royalty, then I can see why you might be interested in this book for it is a quick read. Otherwise, I would stick with Samantha’s story and possibly look forward to Prince Max’s story (which shall be released in August and sounds a bit more interesting than Cathy’s).
