Kaye Dacus premieres her Brides of Bonneterre series with a story about Anne, a wedding planner charged with putting together the biggest wedding of the year. The good news is that there is no budget. The bad news, however, is that she finds herself attracted to the groom! George Laurence discovers he is in a similar predicament - as a stand-in for the real groom, he is forbidden to reveal his job to anyone, ESPECIALLY the wedding planner, whom he just can't seem to stay away from. George gets to know Anne's whole family, creating some situations that will make you blush! Humorous dialog and fast-moving scenes keep the momentum going strong from beginning to end. Besides a few plot twists that seem out of character, the reader will be rewarded with a timeless, fairy-tale ending.

There were a few scenes that took a little more effort to push through, but otherwise, an easy read!

It's a cute book. I love the fact that it's clean. If I was the wedding planner, I think I have a difficult time forgiving Cliff for the financial pump-and-dump. George is a gem and I like how they come to like each other.

I made it through a little over 100 pages of this book before I had to stop reading. It was completely cheesy and I couldn't get into the main character. I just really didn't like her at all. While the other characters seemed to be more well-developed and likeable, I don't know if I would pick up another book of Kaye Dacus again.

This was my first experience with Kaye Dacus, and I happened upon her by accident. I won a copy of the second book in this series, Menu For Romance, from a Goodreads giveaway and my OCD nature wouldn't allow myself to read it without reading the first book. Yes, the storyline is very similar to the movie The Wedding Planner, but with a few different twists. I really enjoyed all of the characters and I couldn't put the book down - I finished it in 24 hours! I am now reading Menu For Romance and look forward to reading more stories by Kaye Dacus.

This was a really, sweet romance. The love between Anne and George developed slowly and tenderly.

Instead of the flash and passionate attractions that other romances offer, Stand-in Groom gave a superb performance of true love. Even though there were many miscommunications between the two, it made your heart smile when they overcame those small obstacles.

I look forward to purchasing the other two in the series. Kaye Dacus has fast become one of my favorite authors.

Romance stories are not typically my cup of tea. When I first started reading fiction a lot, they were, but I no longer go out of my way any more to read a romance. Well.....I'm glad I decided to make an exception for Stand-in Groom! This is a romance done right!

Anne's career choice alone really makes this book stand out. I had a brief desire at one point in my life to be a wedding planner, but now that I actually know what's involved, plus reading how Anne practically runs herself ragged day after day.....let's just say that I'll leave that job to the professionals. I loved how she really cared for each one of the brides that she worked with, so much so that she would drop everything at a moment's notice to help one of them through a crisis.

And then, there's George.... My, my, my! He set my heart to flutterin' from the moment he first met Anne. Initially, his part in the story was a little confusing, especially trying to distinguish between the role he was trying to play and the person he really was, but things quickly became easy to follow. Oh, and did I mention that he's British? And such a perfect gentleman? Wow!

Parts of the story were slightly predictable, but I was genuinely surprised a couple times along the way. I also appreciated how the romance progressed slowly throughout the book and not just in one big lump; it just made the story that much more believable.

All that's left to say is that I will definitely be reading more from Kaye Dacus! This was an impressive debut novel, and I have no doubt that the rest of this series will be just as exceptional! Bravo!

It's the Christian version of a Nora Roberts novel.
