This isn't a bad read per say, but I don't care for the style of writing. I loved season one of the anime, but in book format, it just isn't for me.

I decided to read this book after watching the anime. It's super easy to read and funny, but OMG, all the food they describe makes me so hungry!

The author is definitely a foodie with the amount of food descriptions this book has.

Of all genres I love the most, light novels and manga around cooking are pretty much up there. I love them all and they're actually what I gravitate to the most when I'm studying Japanese as it stands - they've been my primary motivation to continuing study since there haven't been too many series licensed in English.

Anyway, this is is a very leisurely slice of life ('slow life', I guess?) series where our protagonist is clearly hell bent on cooking his way through his new world's ecosystem with the Japanese equivalent of Freshdirect for the sake of his pets and I'm all aboard that train. It makes me wish Jnovel would licence 令嬢はまったりをご所望 so I could have some more extremely leisurely let's-cook-stuff-all-day stuff to read in English but I guess I really ought to use the lack of license instead to practice, uh, my reading comprehension.

Yeah, I read this because of the anime. And I enjoyed it. The main character is both snarky and well versed in fantasy world, so makes his interactions with other characters refreshing. The Legendary Fenrir, Fel, is a delight often guiding the hero on his adventures-mainly with his bottomless stomach. And the little slime is another delight. Be careful because this book will make you hungry because it describes the cooking so well-all it's missing is some measurements to make them recipes. So yeah, I'll pick up another volume to see what kind of shenanigans hero gets into thanks to his familars' appetites and I look forward to catching the anime when I can.
