I liked the idea of the story but I guess I didn’t realize how much time would be spent discussing the actual food and cooking itself. During the story it seemed kind of balanced at first but became more and more about the food. I can understand food being his superpower or whatever but we don’t have to know every detail at the risk of plot progression.
It feels like very little actually happens in the story because the MC spends so much time thinking about food and planning food, etc. I understand that it’s an important tool of the story but not quite so much detail is needed there.
Then the extra chapter at the end was literally only food related. I would’ve rated the book higher had that part not been included. I actually didn’t even read that all the way through because WTF.
It had a lot of potential and there were fun parts to the story. It was a quick and easy read but it was easy to get pulled out of the story.

I am a sucker for a laid backed isekai light novel.
This deals with a lot of food. Mukohda is a reluctant hero on a journey to explore this new world he was summoned to. Along the way he acquires two familiars and cooks his way into their hearts.
There are no stakes. Like most light novels there’s a lot of repetition and you can tell this is a writer still finding his feet. That said, while the story is a breeze and a nice relaxation read their style doesn’t leave much to be desired. The story is written as matter of fact, and Mukohda as a character really only has two qualities so far; he’s a good cook and he’s scared of everything.
The beginning of the story had potential. I liked Mukohda’s relationship with other characters, but it does fall into a rut halfway through when it’s just him and his familiars.
Volume 2 sounds promising though.
Hated the last chapter. It was just food. Food.

It’s a book that’s good and slow-paced, but it never really picks up steam.
This was kind of an odd story, but it's pretty amusing how such an unlikely skill could lead to a main character getting powerful familiars to join him and the interest of gods in another realm!
Pretty cute premise. Fenrir was the best part by far. He’s adorable! I like the focus on food and how it actually gives people strength. The start is mostly introduction to the world and Jon titles, though and I wished for something more exciting.

It’s a light novel but the reading felt super slow... either way, I’ll probably pick up the second one
