A really cool idea with really poor execution! I truly wonder if this book was edited? Countless repeated words, tense changes in the middle of sentences, dialogue that goes on forever and makes no sense and repeats nearly full sentences again and again. For example: “She continued taking pictures, pulling the binders from their small cubbyhole, leading through them and taking pictures”. But imagine this on like every page repeating words two, three, or four times in the same couple of sentences.

Also the storyline was so erratic. Louise, the main character, has 0 personality and a vague connection to the main mystery that isn’t explained until the end even though she’s our narrator. Then the secondary character Caroline also has 0 personality and a vague connection to the main mystery that isn’t explained until the end. Just a bunch of vague connections with no point until the random ending that had no build up or explanation.

I only finished out of spite because I wanted to see what happened at the end and it wasn’t worth it at all. Also the book was described to me as more of a thriller than the bland police procedural that it is and idk who would ever call this book a thriller. I’ve seen other people in reviews say the author’s other books are better but idk. I feel like the editing really let this book down.

Don't let the reviews on the cover fool you, the Bone Keeper will not haunt your dreams. I can be easily scared by a line of Stephen King, so I was disappointed when I felt no fear while reading this. The writing was distracting from any plot there was. There was very little to grab your attention. Overall, it was confusing and boring.

Held my attention which for some reason not many books have done lately, but it did drag on a lot in the middle. Solid 3.5

This book was a super fast read and held my attention, but it wasn’t the best thriller I’ve read. It wasn’t predictable which is good but it never had super exciting/tense moments that really captured attention.

This book was very boring to get into. There were random chapters of different perspectives, and they were so jarring I had no idea what was going on. I think if it was structured differently I would’ve enjoyed it more. The ending was good but again I was so bored until the end it didn’t make me want to rate it higher
