I guess I'll just update this review whenever I read another story...

The Duke Experiment by Eva Pendle - 4.25 stars

So there I was, thinking this was a chaste but romantic story about a scientist Duke and the lady scientist who shares his lab (disbelief very much suspended), when bam! — the train scene. 🥵🥵 So. Much. Praise.

Sweet Duke O’Mine by Annabelle Anders - 4 stars

Second chance romance about a Duke and his childhood sweetheart + amnesia trope? I enjoyed this, and it wasn’t as OTT drama as I expected. Something about it felt very 80s/90s and gave me Richard Gere vibes.

This is an anthology of historical romance novella's but do not let the word novella put you off - there are still 20 odd hours of reading within this collection.

I like how the novellas are compiled together in this anthology, enough difference between the storylines that it does not feel like on story is running into the next.

The spice level and regency accuracy does vary between each book but an easy enjoyable read.

I only Read Caroline Lee's story in this anthology (for now) but I loved it. Kip and Amelia were awesome, and I can't wait to read the next in the series.
Maybe I'll come back and read more in the anthology later, but for now my TBR is just too long

I enjoyed An Improper Duke by Amy Rose Bennett. An impetuous affair between an older woman and her stepson’s best friend? So much can go wrong, but when Hugo finds Celia’s naughty list and proposes to cross off each item, everything goes right. What follows is tawdry love affair, plenty of sneaking around, steam and tender affection. This story is short and sweet but oh so naughty. A delightful blend.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Duke Around and Find Out by Ebony Oaten: This story was great fun. Thomasina & Gerard are such fun, free spirits. Starting their acquaintance with a series of challenges (dares really) sets the tone for a seemingly carefree friendship. The stress comes when Gerard inadvertently becomes Duke and formality threatens their budding romance. Thomasina is bold and vivacious, and Gerard is the standard bold, outgoing rogue. Together their chemistry is hard to deny, a delightful story that I wish could’ve been longer. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Oh. My. God, Becky, Look at Her Duke by Caroline Lee: Laughing like a chick at hen party, this story was everything I hoped for. Knowing Caroline’s humour and Amelia’s penchant for eggs in blouse, I knew this story would be quirky humour at its finest. My only complaint is that I would’ve loved a full length story for Amelia & Kipling. I fell hard for her in The Duke’s Daring Bride and wanted to see all the antics that 2 years apart would bring. But I still loved what we were given, so I can’t complain (much). The other woman storyline brought an interesting complication and I absolutely loved the dinner time set down. Man, did she have that coming! After seeing Amelia’s pining for her brothers best friend, having it go from ‘she fell first’ to ‘they both fell’ was truly wonderful and all that she deserved. Another rip-roaringly fun story from the queen of Scottish Historical Romcoms. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My review is for When the Duke Bought a Wife by Mariah Stone.

I received this as an arc from the author and I’m voluntarily leaving my honest review.

This was a great historical romance. It was a short, well written story with a great pace. The plot was very entertaining. Emma and Sebastian had an interesting meet cute to say the least and their relationship was as interesting going forward. I really enjoyed reading the story.

This was a great short story. I loved the banter between Emma and Matthew. I also love when the man falls first. Matthew has been smitten with her but hasn’t made a move. Now that she is about to leave he feel he must do something before he loses her forever. Great story.

An anthology of nineteen short stories, all featuring a Duke.
The story titles all have pop culture references.

Review for The Duke Experiment by Eve Pendle:

Matthew, the male lead, is a duke by birth but a scientist by interest. He’s never managed to acquire the social graces and hides away in his laboratory. He vaguely remembers agreeing to share his lab with a female but he’s shocked and enthralled when Emma, the female lead, arrives. Emma, a widow, is striving to finish her thesis so she can find a job before her widow’s money runs out.

When Matthew offends Emma at their first meeting, he despairs of ever having a relationship with her and settles for a proximal enemies relationship. But then she announces she’s nearly done and will be leaving for a new job shortly, prompting Matthew to make a first desperate move…

This novella is dual POV, well written, and a steamy sweet, enemies-to-lovers, historical romance. I enjoyed that both characters were scientists. I enjoyed Emma’s goal setting and her work towards meaning in her life. I enjoyed Matthew’s engagement in Emma’s life and appreciated that he was willing to merely be present without pressing his interest for a significant amount of time. I enjoyed their relationship development and the steamy intimate scenes. I chuckled at their banter and enjoyed their amiable and loving final position.

I received a complimentary copy from the author and this is my voluntary honest review.
