Unimpressed. It did keep me entertained enough to finish reading it. The female lead has an interesting backstory. The male romantic interest is "I need to brush my teeth" sweet.

Jacqueline Seewald has penned a sexy read with strong characters caught up in the world of international intrigue. Classy P.I. Michelle Hallam has it all – great looks, great intuition, and extensive weapons training. When her investigations company takes on the job of finding out what happened to a dead CIA agent who allegedly committed suicide, trouble rears its nasty head. Kidnappings and murders are chump change for the bad guys, but despite the danger, Michelle and psychiatrist Dainel Reiner team up to learn the truth. From the Mediterranean seaside to New York and Washington D.C., this book will have you turning the pages to learn what happens next.

Seewald’s Death Legacy romps deliciously through the world of double agents, international secrets, and a hot love affair.

I found this book at my public library prior to Covid-19 taking over. I was looking for a new-to-me RS writer. While researching the story, I was impressed with the written opinions by Publisher’s Weekly and Booklist. I should have paid closer attention to the ratings and reviews. For me, a red flag is when the author gives her own story five stars.

If I was Michelle and Daniel came on to me like he did her, I’d run for the hills. Rather than romantic, he was creepy. The thought of him as a psychiatrist made his actions even more improper.

Michelle was two-dimensional. The explanation for not showing emotion was because she was raised by an uncle after losing both parents in an accident.

Unfortunately, this story lacked what I consider the most important part of a good RS: the plot needs to be believable and I am engaged with the actions of the MCs. Please show me, don’t tell.
