I have loved this book since it came out in 2013. I used it for an artists storytime because each little phrase of the first verse is illustrated by a different artist. There are a total of 10 artists who made art for this song book. At storytime, I invited people to sing along with me.

2022 storytime theme: International Artists Day

The text of America the Beautiful accompanied by quotations from various famous Americans throughout history and paired with beautiful illustrations, including many by some of my favorite illustrators: John Hendrix, Jon J. Muth, and LeUyen Pham. This was lovely.

Stunning collection from different illustrators around the country. Each page is a different line from the song "America the Beautiful" and each illustrator has interpreted it in his or her own unique way. I could see giving students a poem, assigning them a line and having them illustrate their interpretation of that line.

Read this with my 7yo for school. I always loved the song and the pictures are beautiful. She asked me to read it again right after finishing it the first time. :-)

Stunningly beautiful artwork to accompany the lovely words of "America the Beautiful" by Katharine Lee Bates' great-great-grandnephew. See if you can read it without crying. I can't.

I loved the variety in the book. the different flavors of illustrations were fantastic. The quotes were cool, but they almost made the book too busy for me.

Everything about this book was special. The ten American artists and the illustrations they created. The ten chosen quotes from ten different presidents. The four pages of information at the end. As I teacher, the book SCREAMS mini-lessons. Art, history, language arts, social consciousness....I can even use some of these great quotes for handwriting assignments with meaning and verve. I splurged. I wonder whose brainstorm it was to put it together?
