If this book wasnt prescribed to me by my university, I dont think I wouldve ever picked it up or read past the first few pages. Its essentially the journey of a simple-minded man named Michael who has to navigate his place in a Nigeria that is being torn apart by wars. He finds himself in numerous captive situations from which he yearns to break free. He prioritises his solitude over anything else, even food and basic necessities that one needs to survive.

The reason why I said i wouldn't have continued after reading the first few pages is because those pages catalogue Michael's journey to Prince Albert and are heavily inundated with names of roads and places that he travels through.
