1 rounded up and 4 rounded down. What! HOW?!
Trigger warning: graphic violence, animal cruelty, torture
Because of the torture (with the animal cruelty involved), I was unsure whether I'd be able to stomach finishing the book. Two different celebrations and depictions of torture were as difficult as anything I've ever read in comic format.
Tortures aside, this was a good and interesting book. It's firmly in the same genre/feel as The Incal and Scumbag, and of the three, The Weatherman's narrative was the clear winner.
The art is good. Credit to the artist for being able to draw what they drew, because I would've had to pass this assignment to someone else. It'll never get a reread so I'll be looking to gift it when I finish vol.2. But hey... I'm reading vol.2!

I freaking LOVE this story. Nathan Bright is an amazing character with such a horrible brutal backstory that I STILL find myself not fully believing it. But that's likely because I just don't want to believe it.
I love the art, the characters, the world building--all of it is awesome.

The other day I was looking at rejected vanity plate requests for Colorado. They were pretty hilarious, although there are some weird things. For example, you can't put 666 in your vanity plate. Why? I mean, I know WHY, but that seems like a church and state thing, right?
What was weird is that there were a BUNCH of rejections for vanity plates featuring variations on "blockchain." Which I couldn't figure out. All I could come up with is that it was some kind of sex thing, like...well, I don't really know what it would be, but there would be multiple people involved, hence the chain, and then block would be something gross. But as far as I can tell, it's just technical mumbo, maybe even jumbo, that doesn't seem to have sinister meaning.
But maybe I'm wrong. I thought this was the most appropriate space to ask.

This was action packed. Reminiscent of The Authority somehow to me, but mostly plausible science fiction as opposed to superpowers. Maybe it was just the pace, but it felt like more than that somehow. Anyway, it was definitely enjoyable, in a brutally violent sort of way.
The story is a bit revenge fantasy, and also a bit whodunit. I’m reserving judgement on the over-arching story until it’s wrapped, and I probably won’t get that from the volume 2 that’s sitting on my shelf already. The art is pretty fantastic though, so I’ve no regrets so far.
