Not my favorite Highsmith, but still gripping and fascinating!

A surprisingly weak one from Highsmith, which is probably because for once she's isn't writing from the perspective of the villain.

That said, even a weak story from someone of this calibre is a good read

Enjoyed it more than expected, the complex characters and writing style drew me in. Despite being written over 50 years ago it didn't feel too dated (apart from some minor details like waiting for the late edition of the newspaper to come out read the news!)
