Although I enjoy the setting of Shady Hollow, I felt the end of the book quite predictable, including, and specially, the identity of the murderer. Furthermore, I think it was quite contrived the amount of time it took Vera Vixen to make some basic realizations regarding some of the clues found. I will check out the next book in the series, however, this volume made me significantly less excited for the murder-mystery aspect of the book, but just as excited to continue reading about Shady Hollow and its cast of characters.

This was so disappointing. I enjoyed the first Shady Hollow book. However, this one only had one suspect, and I knew who did it immediately, which is a problem for a book pretending to be a mystery. That being said, I have read mysteries that aren't that great before for the characters or atmosphere, but this book lacked all of that. The only character development was a terrible romance trope of miscommunication that wasn't even resolved well.
