Sometimes, when a parent tells me a story about their child doing something exceptional, the story is less about an extraordinary child than a story about a proud and loving parent observing their child. This is more a memoir of a pet pig owner than a story of a pig that does anything exceptional. Not at all what I had expected, but I liked it all the same.

The word compassion means "with suffering." To have compassion is to willingly join in suffering-to show those you love that you will not let them suffer alone. And this is the most you can do: offer your presence.

A great soul can appear among us at any time, in the form of any creature. I'm keeping my eyes open.

Two writers take in a runt piglet who brings joy to them and their community. Loved this book! (Sy Montgomery truly loves animals and I enjoy many of her books.)
