Really heartbreaking story. Initially read this solely for the Spanish practice but it's one of the better children's stories I've read in recent years. A very quick read that ends with a really tense segment that leads to tragedy.

had to read for my spanish class but lowkey ended up loving it. the ending was SO SAD. this book was a short, heart-wrenching piece on class struggle, the hardships of agricultural labor, and how children suffer under economic exploitation, strict immigration laws, and generational poverty. i cried the end.
