I think this is the strongest of the three in the series. I loved it. I am lucky enough to know the author in real life, and I'm always struck by how well she conveyed her own voice on the page in this series. I know it started as an oral story, but I can really, really hear Jones' voice in this series. It sounds like she talks, in the best way. I also love SalGoud, and he is pretty prominent in this one. Honestly, though, the grogans stole my heart. Adorable little dudes and dudettes. I also want a protection gnome now.

This book does have some scary parts and goes a little dark. Just a warning.
