Overall, I loved how you could see all the events of Austen's book mirrored, but everything was put in a fresh modern light, allowing it to stand as its own successful story.
Graphic: Alcohol
Moderate: Death, Racism, and Sexual content
As high schoolers, the characters in this book do go to a party that leaves to some major alcohol use. In addition, there is a death of a family friend towards the end of the book. The death itself is not described as it occurs, just after the fact. I tagged for sexual content since that seemed the broadest to cover the events of this book. However, there wasn't any sexual content between the characters in this book past kissing. This book for sure falls within the YA category. However, there is an incident where a character is responsible for sharing inappropriate sexual pictures they've taken of someone without their consent with other friends which leads to the pictures spread. Similarly, I don't think there's a large incident involving racism, but consistently throughout the book there are themes of unconscious bias and racial stereotyping.gwynn0715's review

I'm glad Pride was the first book I read by Ibi Zoboi. It was such a valid message on how new people who move in can evolve and have more depth and nuances than meet the eye. Like Janae, Zuri's older sister and Darius Darcy the love interest.
This story wrapped everything up nicely in a way that pointedly makes it clear life continues. The conclusion made me smile. It was definitely worth picking up even not having read the classic. But it missed depth and emotion when it came to the relationships.
