Delightfully creepy. Lovecraft builds a malingering horror quite skillfully with his town of Innsmouth and its crowd of fishy Dagon-worshippers. It’s a bit exposition heavy, but it works with the Gothic overtones. Recommended.

The final chapter of this book was what finally cemented this is as one of my favourite Lovecraft stories as it went into a direction I did not expect.
Other than that the atmosphere and visuals were conveyed perfectly and the book went deeper into the masterful mythos Lovecraft has penned.

Some parts of it were well written, some parts of it were a slog, but mostly it was hard to get past the whole "metaphor for the horrors of interracial relationships" thing

What a surprisingly happy, optimistic ending!
