"I’m a seventeen-year-old kid walking down a deserted road in the middle of the night in a foreign country. All alone—except for a friend who is haunted, possessed, and prone to panic attacks.
Just a night in the life of a true magician."

In this episode of Jack Massa's continuing adventures of Abby Renshaw, teenage magus, he packs a lot in a small space. The usual cast of characters - with the addition of the scene-stealing Franklin (he'd be happy to know) - are taken out of their usual Floridian backdrop to England, another atmospheric evocation, but still must deal with the ghostly shenanigans that usually plague our heroine. This time, one of her spirit encounters comes to possess her friend. The heartbreaking backstory/backstories at the heart of the souls' entrapment in this plane holds surprises for the reader and lingers with us long after the story has concluded.

I would only say that the story is over too soon, but we know the Massa will soon return with Abby Renshaw and another tale to delight us. I hope we see Franklin again.
