This review might reflect the series as a whole more than just this book. Ye be warned

I binged this series. Matter of like 2 weeks so content from 1 book to the next was still rather fresh. And to that point the thing i am most hung up about is the inconsistencies in the world building. There is so little world to build and so little that needs explaining but still that isnt even managed. In one book god is an entity, neither he nor she and then last book god is defined as the universe and is now a she?! This upsets me cause as this is to do with the horsemen doing gods will shouldnt there be a consistency in how they refer to the deity?

Another part that half annoys me and dont is that one of the books war has the woman understanding whatever he says regardsless of language and for every other book we need a translation? A half baked explanation isnt given but you can infer it. Just dont look to hard or you might see cracks in that too.

I also sincerely hate that the damn solution to each of these books were loose her. Every damn time. By book 4 it was just stupid. Also by book 4 now there is a direct meddling from god? Something mind you that wasnt present in any of the other books? Like why or where did this come from. I get it was necessary so she cant be killed by death but this is the only one that this happens in. This is beyond the words each is given.

Honestly the best book in this series and the only one i would recommed is pestilence. Book 4 has me feeling like laura hasnt been touching grass. And looking back you can see a steady decline in how it goes.

The fmc book to book doesnt feel distinct. Book 1 has a great fmc but from book 2 forward? When they first meet there is a big how damn dare they and not 5 chapters after the mindset shifts 'Nah is okay the horseman cant help it, it is his job. Is okay as long as it isnt me.' The latter being infered not directly stated. They just flop over and i kind of hate that, because they are not changing them. They are not trying to get them to change. They kind of just let fate take that wheel. Pestilence sidesteps this by having her go like nah i dont want you if you dont change. But the other three? Theyd sooner roll over than actually do anything that resembles having a spine and boundaries

Maybe i looked into it a little to hard. I mean i am sure the plot of these books are suppose to be "plot". I just had such a great time with the first one and everything after didnt really match up. And that is just my opinion of it.

We've reached Death's story. Death can kill with a single thought, so when he meets Lazarus, the only human woman who keeps coming back to life, he doesn't know what to do. He's been alone for so long, and he has a mission to accomplish. But Lazarus won't make his life easier. Since he met her, he cannot stop thinking about her, but Lazarus can't stop thinking on how to kill Death. She's the only one who can stop the apocalypse, but Death first needs to realise his feelings.

This series was a wild ride. I get to fall in love with the four horsemen and their lovers, and I wish I could read more about them.

I’m going to start with the spoiler free portion of this.

I wanted so bad to love this book. I tried and tried but I came so close to DNFing it. I LOVED the first three of this series and i was so excited about this book that that reason is the main reason I actually finished it.

I HATED the main character. Laz is just unfathomably annoying. She doesn’t get better and that baffles me.

Laura Thalassa is an amazing author, but I honestly feel this one fell short.

This book definitely has more steamy bits than the first two did, but it’s not as thought out.

I’m sorry but I can’t believe this is the same author who wrote the Bargainer trilogy.
This series was a disaster. I know the power of love concept can be done million times better- aka Once Upon a Time.
This was just sex and killing and being zero percent self aware. When you write a fantasy(?) book like this you have to know you can’t just write anything right? All the books had all the same tropes and they were all badly written except for the first book. But that is maybe because that was the first time I read it so it wasn’t boring at the time.
