I like the idea of time travel but have yet to find a story that really carries me away, so to speak. This book didn't, either.

I read through the first several chapters, but it moved so slowly I started skimming faster and faster till the book ended. I read enough of the end to see that I didn't really miss anything.

This was an interesting story that I was dragged into from reading the sample. In fact I was on holidays with over 80 books loaded onto my kindle to choose from, but once I started reading this, I knew I had to get it to finish it.

Part time travel, part historical romance, part mystery, this was a very enjoyable read. The back and forth between time periods gave the story a different edge to a normal romance.

I think this is a very solid start for a new author.

What can I say? This should have been right up my street as I love time travel stories and with the protagonist arriving from the past to the present day, it was a bit of a change. But it felt like there was something missing.
I didn’t warm to any of the characters at all and there were events that were unusual enough to be mentioned but lacking any clarity and drifting into another scene without explanation, resolution or any clue to why it was mentioned in the first place.
I sort of felt as if I had to read the author’s mind at times. The ability and conditions to time travel were sort of explained but as an afterthought.

I rarely give up on a book but at 100 pages in, I just wasn’t interested in finding out what was happening anymore.
