Dalton Fury writes with a purpose and confidence that is astounding for someone with so little writing experience and on his first fiction novel. The pacing is excellent, and the story never strays from the objective. Kolt Raynor is flawed yet driven, smart and deadly. I don't know the capabilities of an actual Delta Force operative, but this feels a little too Jason Bourne for me to believe, but doesn't lessen the enjoyment. This was recommended by a work acquaintance and I am guessing I will be back for another in the series.

I listened to this over the weekend and wasn't terribly impressed. The main character is bland and the story is just so-so.

3.5 stars really....why isnt there an option for half stars?

Good action and good pacing in thus book. The plot was good as well. I loved the epilog.

Serviceable action thriller if you have read all of the Mitch Rapp and Scot Harvath books and are looking for something new.

Nice start from Fury. Racer is going to be another good thriller character. This was a story of failure, redemption and victory. The story didn’t end here. Looking forward to the next. Definitely worth a read.

Unfortunately this one isn't as memorable to me as I wanted it to be. I was busy experimenting with new authors in the military/counterterrorism thriller genres at the time, and this was another new foray. It was also the only book I ever read by Fury, despite having had good intentions to read the others later on. I just don't think the characters caught my attention all that much. I didn't gravitate towards them in any particularly positive way. I can remember very little of the book itself. I liked it, but it read slowly, which is unusual for a book of this genre for me.

But one thing it did have going for it was its use of the Delta Force. You don't see many books out there with Delta Force, so this was a nice change and is what drew me to it in the first place. Now that it's been years and my interest in the series and the genre has waned, I probably won't ever continue with it. But I still have the book, so that must speak some volume of truth to its decency, I guess.
