Absolutely lovely, with magic, gloom and tons of laugh-aloud moments. Never has a haunted castle been so wonderfully brought to life.

I'll be honest, I was drawn to this because of the cute cover and the fun sounding premise. I was not expecting how much fun I got from it. Plus, the illustrations were just so stinking cute? This was the right amount of middle grade witchy fun that I needed.

Smart, funny, charming and full of heart, this elementary grade read plays on fantasy and horror tropes when 12-year-old Molly claims to be a Wicked Witch and the new Master of Castle Hangnail. See my full review here.

I really enjoyed this book. It's my first title by Vernon, and it is very reminiscent of titles by Eva Ibbotson. Molly, the Minions, and the animals of Castle Hangnail quickly won my heart and got me rooting for them.

I very much enjoyed this, and think that friends who liked Dealing With Dragons would like this too. (Also, just read everything by Ursula Vernon; Dragonbreath and Hamster Princess are particularly excellent when you are sick or are too stressed out to read anything aimed at people over the age of twelve.)
