I’ve read these two authors separately and really enjoyed their books, so I figured this one was a no-brainer since they co-wrote it. It was definitely not what I was expecting. It’s quite awesome when a book surprises you and this one did.

I have to admit I had a hard time getting through parts of this book, yes it’s got some disturbing content, but that wasn’t the reason. I just absolutely hated the heroine. I couldn’t connect with her, she was selfish and manipulative. Frankly, she just wasn’t good enough for Jimmy.

As I read on, I began to understand her motives, but I still didn’t like her. By the end of the book, she had won me over and had my sympathy. Let me warn you, this ones a pretty big cliffy. Yikes!

I’m so ready for book two. Bring it, ladies.

This book was right up my soap-loving, angst-loving alley. The female MC is more of a hot mess/free sexually person than the male is which is also a nice change but no less frustrating. Both of them have fucked up childhoods they deal with in different ways, none of which are really healthy. I made add more later to this review when I am in the mood. Overall though - I can't wait to read book 2! Always the sign of a win for me.

Bonus - I save all my hate for Tripp the rock star judge mental manwhore.

I’m utterly speechless and emotionally drained from All We Were by Elisabeth Grace and Michelle Lynn. I had NO idea what I was getting myself into when I sat down to read this book but WOW! The story of Jimmy and Lilah packs such a punch, I just could not put this book down. I went from utter frustration with the characters to complete understanding of where they were coming from to just wanting all the best for both of them, however painful it may be. All We Were is such a heartbreaking story, I cannot wait for book two to see where Jimmy and Lilah’s story ends.

A ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 3.5 stars start of a new duet. We have two long time friends, James "Jimmy" Crawford and Lilah Robbie who has lived a troublesome life and experiences no one would like to be in. They were able to start fresh somewhere new and make something more of themselves. Life is coming along accordingly and away from where their life started.

However, Lilah's model life and James's celebrity status can be challenging especially for Lilah. She tends to fall back on old bad habits thanks to her demons and past that she cannot let go. Her only home, Jimmy is constantly her rock and he is hoping for more between the two. A secret that only the two have shared and kept can make or break them in the long run.

Although I may have mixed thoughts on the start of this duet; it gave me the feels from different angles and perspectives. Let me start of by saying that I like this cover. It captures the characters perfectly in this read and the colors used stood out. Along with the synopsis it caught my eye and had me intrigued.

The constant back and forth is present throughout the read and will have you itching for more for both parties. The chemistry between the two is utterly present when they are in the same room but is it enough to get to a future that they are both seeking for one another? The character of Jimmy is one that will have you falling for his loyalty and being frustrated with him at the same time. Lilah was challenging to root for her thanks to the choices she has made that will have your head spinning. When they only have and depended on each other for many years...letting go (especially when it is for the best) is not an easy feat. Just when you think it is progressing in a positive slope we are left with a cliffy that had my heart breaking, pissed off, and even more torn.

This is one roller coaster ride of a read. I'm curious to see what path(s) the authors will make their story go.

Um....well....yeah, I got nothing.....speechless! This book was EVERYTHING! I was consumed and spellbound by this story that I couldn't stop reading, I kept telling myself just one more chapter and literally couldn't put it down! Jimmy and Lilah's story was an emotional heartbreaking read that left me without words and wrecked by the end! This is without a doubt a 2019 Top Read for me and has me impatiently waiting for All We Are!

All We Were was a brilliant read and oh my gosh what an ending!!! It’s the kind of ending that makes you wish you had the second book straight away so that you can dive right in! It had a good gritty storyline that I could really get my teeth into. I liked that it wasn’t predictable and there were some great twists! I loved James and Lilah! They have a great, intense connection which can be toxic at times. Both of them had problems when they were young but they had each other, one has succeeded in life with relative ease, the other struggled. I was completely wrapped up in their story. I loved that this was dual author book; the writing was so seamless that I couldn’t tell that it was two authors writing together.
I really took both of these characters into my heart and I cannot WAIT until the next book comes out – I need to know what is going to happen!! Although I’m not sure if my heart can take it!!!
I highly recommend All We Were – it was a brilliant read!!

I wanted to like this one. I was intrigued by the story, the angst, the whole thing. Unfortunately, there's a difference between messy and destructive...and this was too far over that line for me.
