This one was intense. The small glimpse of Lady a Corsair and Archemedes was fun. The ending makes it very hard to wait a week to fin out what happens.
Wow. That ending... Just wow.

When we last left our lovers they were awaiting an audience with the Empress of Nippon, stuck behind the walls in the Red City, hoping for help. But time is running out. Ariq comes back to their rooms day after day with out word from either his brother or Blanchett and still has no meeting set with the Empress. He needs to get back to Kraken Town to see what’s transpired and protect his people. He has no desire to leave his wife behind, but fears he must. He wants her to be safe while he’s away, but worries that he hasn’t done enough to break down her defenses and gain all of her trust.
I have so many feelings about this couple. I really do think they are one of my all time favorites, both so strong and resilient yet at the same time insecure about this new, delicate relationship they’ve formed. There is this tremendous love and passion between them that grows with each new episode. Ariq will do anything for his wife. He’ll protect her with his strength and body and give her all of his passion until she’s weak from pleasure, but is it enough to make her stay? Once she sees her brother again will she decide she wants to remain by Ariq’s side or will she ride off on an airship and vanish? Zenobia is all the things I love in a heroine… brave, intelligent, loyal, steadfast. Yet she still fears that Ariq will wake up one day and realize that it’s the spy he first thought she was that he loves, not the writer with insecurities and trust issues. In this episode I think they finally realize what they mean to each other. They fight, make up, have amazing against the wall sex and then prove to each other that there’s nothing they won’t do for the other.
The ending left me out of breath. When I read the last word, I sat there speechless and then went back and read it all again. High energy and action packed, yet gut wrenching at the same time. I foresee the last installment being non-stop action from beginning to end. I’m ready for it. I can’t wait to see how everything wraps up. Final Grade- A
On to the final episode: The Kraken King Part VIII: The Kraken King and the Greatest Adventure.

He didn’t care if they knew. “I don’t want them to see you.”
“Then they won’t.” She pulled the edge of her robe up over her shoulder, then trailed her hands down the front of his chest. “They won’t see anything. Only the Kraken King sheathing his weapon and making me scream. Oh, they’ll tremble.”
Nooooooo
Well shut my mouth! After last week's romantic interlude in which not a lot of plot happened this week EVERYTHING happened.
Too much, the Empress, automatons, torture (euch) and misunderstandings.
Ariq is still labouring under the delusion (or is it illusion? I'm never sure) that Zenobia doesn't love him and he is terrified that she will leave him. His agonies are heart-rending, especially when he thinks she will hate his answer either way.
We see the welcome return of some old favourites and we may have found out the location of the Skybreaker - and the clues were there!
How will I ever wait seven days until the next instalment?

Another excellent entry. Ariq and Zenobia revealed more of themselves, which means they were both more vulnerable and susceptible to their fears.
The action continued at a fast pace. I about had a heart attack at the ending. WHY DID IT HAVE TO END THERE? !?!

Some thoughts:
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
Also:
Holy Moses, Ariq is a damn sexy beast. (Yeah, this isn't new info.)
Aw man, these two are so great together. (Neither is this.)
Hot damn, I love how fucking smart Zenobia is. (Or this one either!)
OMG, one more week to go!

It has already been a few days since Ariq and Zenobia arrived back in the Red City and crossed the wall. Still Ariq waits for a chance to speak with the Empress and to hear word about Krakentown. He fears for the worst and decides he may have to leave for Krakentown himself to see what has happened. Even though this may ruin his chances of meeting with the Empress, Ariq see no other way.
Zenobia, too, has been waiting with Ariq through the dread of no news. A visit from the Empress’s Guard only drives home the point that if Ariq has to leave she would not be safe without him, and she prepares herself to depart when the time comes. Problems arise when Ariq and Zenobia don’t exactly see eye to eye on the situation.
This part has to be my favorite of the series, by far. I think it has a great combination of everything. There’s sex, sweetness, action, intrigue. I was very curious to find out how Meljean Brook would introduce the Empress, and I like the way she does it. Ariq does get his audience with her, but the Empress still manages to maintain an air of mystery around her. It just further makes me wonder how much of what we learn is allusion and how much might actually be truth.
I’m not sure exactly how Ariq was expecting the negotiations to go, but one thing is for certain, the Empress wants the location of Skybreaker just as much as the rebels do. The difference is the Empress is more than willing to take extreme measures to get the information out of The Kraken King.
Ariq and Zenobia finally work through all of their misconceptions about what the other may, or may not, be feeling in their relationship. At the very least, the things they worry about pale in comparison to the danger they face in this installment. Ariq and Zenobia find out just how far they are willing to go for the other, and what sacrifices mean in order to protect the ones that you love. This does end on a pretty significant cliffhanger. Everything comes down to The Kraken King and the Greatest Adventure.
