I originally rated this four stars. Upon rereading, I felt the lack of world building less as a mystery and more as something neglected. The story seemed to hinge on the twist and otherwise have little plot. Just didn’t enjoy it as much this time.

I'm going to be honest here. I don't own a physical copy of this book, its out of publication and it's not on digital. I just saw a review of the book from a youtuber. After he finished reviewing this book I looked for it to buy it and didn't find it anywhere. So, terrible disappointed, I return to watch some other videos on YouTube and... What was my surprise when the first recommended video was the author himself reading this book presenting the images on a screen. Yeah, I know that's not right, sorry. It wasn't my intention. But God, now I really want this in my collection so bad!
It is a fantastic read!!!
THIS IS NOT A CHILDREN'S BOOK even if it seems to be, it isn't. It is a very fast read with amazing illustrations by Nate Taylor. And I can't really talk about the plot cause, you know, it's short. But that doesn't keep Mr. Rothfuss to deliver a beautiful cute eerie little story which horror and gory fans will enjoy for sure!
I'd love if I could get my hands on both Subterranean Press hardcovers. Or at least I hope they could reissue the paperback so I can get them.

I like the idea of it, and the Thing was pretty creepy. Just didn't do it for me though, I dunno.

Pay attention to detail - this book is so much better the second time around.
