*spoilers*

I liked the beginning and the end, but not so much the middle. Overall, I thought it was good, but was really annoyed by Eugenie's choice in men. Especially toward the middle of the book. At the end, I was just thinking to myself, "I knew I didn't like him for a reason!" Also, "I totally saw that coming!" (In a good way... kind of) :)

Richelle Mead does it again with IRON CROWNED. You can tell this book was actually formulated correctly and not just thrown together like recent books in some other series of hers (*coughcoughVAcough*).

Third books in Mead's series are often known as the oh-my-God-Richelle-Mead-why-did-you-do-this-to-us books, and this one doesn't fall short in that aspect at all. What happens near the end of this book is INSANE . . . but I LOVE IT. It's blatantly obvious I'll be buying the last book.

Eugenie's still caught in the middle of the infamous love triangle, and to me, neither side really stands out as the one she should pick. They're both just kind of there, vying for her attention, with no real traits that stand out to me or to anyone else. I guess the love interests' qualities, or lack thereof, are kind of the weak point in this book.

The plotting is tight. The thing about this book and some other of Mead's books is that the main plot point that the characters strive to reach, the main event of the book, happens around halfway through the book, and the second half is just aftermath and build-up for the next book. I guess it's good that Mead gets right to the point, but it makes me feel like she could've just written half of this book and we would've been fine.

As far as the actual plot goes, it's really fast-paced and action-packed, and there's the usual amount of Mead-drama. It's the best book in the Dark Swan series so far.

This is definitely a unique series. I like. Forgot to add this one to my "read" list a while back.

Disappointing. Eugenie messes up one situation after another, there are times when events seem forced, and mostly, I really hate the way she is bouncing around between guys. Get it together Eugenie.

I am the Thorn Queen. Hear me roar!

I don't know why, but I just love reading a book with a tough heroine. Not only tough emotionally, but physically, mentally, magically, etc, etc. as well. And Eugenie is like the freakin definition of kick-ass.

At the start of this book, Eugenie and Dorian are at war with Katrice, the Rowen Queen. Wanting it all to end peacfully, Eugenie decides to set out to find the mythical Iron Crown-- an object so difficult to obtain that it will inspire fear as well as respect from those towards the wearer. I don't want to give anything away...but let's just say we all know Eugenie is too awesome to not get the crown ;D. But that's far from the end-- we are hit with many more surprises as Kiyo once again joins the picture and Storm King's prophecy resurfaces as a major problem.

This addition to the Dark Swan series was just as good as the last. It doesn't get any lest exciting (although some say the quality of the plot has gone down). However, I read for the enjoyment and it's always best to not over-analyze.

Fact of the matter is, Eugenie took me along on an enjoyable ride and I thoroughly enjoyed every second of it.

3.5 - sometimes you really just want to shake Eugenie and wonder what the heck the point is to all of it.

This series gets better and better with each book. I can't decide who I like best Dorian or Kiyo but I am leaning toward Dorian. I think Eugenie is too hard on Dorian and she is so much quicker to forgive Kiyo. I hope the ending won't be a let down like a lot of the reviews state.
