I'm carrying on with this, though I'm not really sure why ... the heroine has the inner narrative - and common sense - of a 10 year old girl. I think I just like the kitsune element. But I can't imagine I'll make it more than 1 book further if she doesn't develop some spine. I loathe stories where the supposed tough girl is a fainting doormat that allows the tough guy to make all the decisions and manage her life.

Furthermore, this story is all happening way too fast - it's unbelievable, and hard to feel invested. It's not exactly fated mates, but it's sure playing out that way.

Bounty hunter and dud witch, Evie Black works alongside her pink, furry and demonic best friend to haul the bad guys into custody in order to pay their bills. After a significant loss in her life, she stumbles into bed with a macho werewolf to forget her troubles. Unfortunately for her, he is a local alpha with super sperm and a serious attachment to her spunky self.⠀
This is a fun, slightly mad adventure following a preggers bounty hunter discovering her non-dud powers, negotiating life with an alpha werewolf baby-daddy and coming to terms with the fact that world is relying on her ability to close a demonic gate.⠀
I'm not usually into the baby-daddy fiction, but there is so much action in this one that its more of a side thought. I also love an overly sexed, ugly sidekick, which helps

Laughed a couple of times because sometimes it was funny and the first 35% was decent but the rest was...something. Would not recommend for sure. Too cliche.

Not a bad book. Didn't go where I expected it to, which was fun. Wouldn't have minded more detail on the world building. Fast paced. Funny. Decent action/fight scenes. Good romance, though it seemed a bit insta-lovey to me. Interesting magic. Again, I wish there were more detail. I'll likely read book two. 3.5 stars.

This book/narrative frustrated me so many times. I guess I enjoyed the story. To be honest though, some of this comes across so childish. It read like it was written by a teenager (or that Evie, a 24 yo, had the internal dialogue if and thought like one).

Evie had so much potential, and this story started so strong and I was excited, but there's nothing worse than developing a strong female character than to have than basically regress to 50s domesticated when a male with good dick enters her life, also in the timespan of a week (?).

I thoroughly enjoy the supernatural aspect (world) that was created. I enjoyed Evie's best friend and partner in the story.

This was free to read with Amazon prime.

Evie and Cass are equal parts awesomesauce. especially the Demon Imp Cass with his hot pink fur, and sequin booty shorts, he is just to cute by far. Evie is a take no prisoners type of gal and after thinking she was a dud witch for years it turns out shes more special than even she knew. Brock is so, yum, I just fell right away for him. Even when he doesn't want Evie to do something dangerous he lets her do her own thing. Molly was just as great in her supporting roll. Leia and Lucia have got a masterpiece on their hands here and I cant wait for book 2 Magic Sight so I can see more of Evie and Brock and their spicy relationship.

Fun read with potential.

Edited to add: The second book will be released in March 2019. Ugh. That’s really too long to wait after a cliffy ending on a book the kept me interested mostly because of potential.

Things I like:

This book introduces fun and interesting concepts that are relatively unique to the PNR world. I love the interpersonal relationship between the h and her best friend, a furry, pink, demonic imp with a penchant for disco-themed boy shorts. I mean, who wouldn’t want a funky sidekick like that?!

I also like that our h isn’t the standard blonde, with blue-eyes. Without mentioning major spoilers, I will say I’m really looking forward to learning more about her dad’s heritage and I love the inclusion of a seldom seen culture in this book.

Lastly, I love learning about folklore from around the world and it looks like the authors have put some time into researching a branch of the paranormal from an eastern culture that I’m looking forward to learning about... that is, if book 2 lives up to the potential that I saw in book one.

Things I don’t like:

The characters seem a little flat and predictable (badass bounty hunter heroine and possessive alpha werewolf *yawn*). Again, fingers crossed for book two. It’s okay to start out with overused character types, as long as you do something new with it.

Instalove. Not even great instalove, with lots of fire. Just plain old instalove. Oh, and did I mention the super sweet and *shudder*, gentle, smexy times. If I’m going to read about a possessive alpha werewolf, at least throw in some angry, out-of-control, must-have-you-now, HOT smexy times.

Cliffhanger. Ugh.

All things considered, I’m giving book 2 a shot. The storyline is pretty interesting, the writing is good, and I didn’t see any overt grammatical errors.
